What’s Your Vision for Gridwall?

So have you heard about this new thing called as Gridwall? I know it’s not new but the type of current usage is new. It is the simple fixture but is getting famous everywhere, be it homes, retail stores or shops. What I can say about other people. I also bought one for me, for my home to hang few artifacts I love. This wall enhances the beauty of the display and the additional benefit is that it saves place as well. If I am not wrong then many gift stores or the sports’ accessory stores prefer this wall to display their items as it gives the perfect classy look they are looking for.

A lot of store professionals say that Gridwall is the most versatile fixture for any store. It can be used as a wall to wall display or can be hung from the roof or can be set on the ground too. The wall is quite easy to set anywhere in the store or home if you have the vision about what is the exact look you are imagining then I am pretty sure you can set in the similar fashion. It is something you can play very nicely if you know how.

If we talk about my vision then let me tell you that how did I place my Gridwall and what is hanging on it. So I have a spare room in my flat which I thought will be perfect for the party room. An air conditioner was already installed in that room. So I fixed the wall parallel to the roof in the whole room. Then in the corners, I hanged some flurry curtains which were only around one foot long. Then in the inner panels I started hanging the sparkly lights and between those lights, I hanged various artifacts. Whoa, as soon as anyone’s enter the room and switch on the light, the whole room gives almost hundreds of shades of color together and which do not irritate the eyes too.

 If you are a retail store owner then you try hard to get your sales up by applying all the marketing strategies. No doubt those strategies help but you know what other things help in increasing the sales, they are small things but really effective.  Your retail displays and fixtures also act as a helping hand in increasing your sales. ·         As I already said that the things you display and the style of displaying attracts the customer and creates an urge in their mind to buy the product. The art of displaying the right product at the right place in the right style is the part of the marketing strategies only, it’s just retail owners pay less attention to this detail.

·         Keep customer at ease. By ease I mean try to be detailed in the store. Keep display boards to guide the customer regarding what to buy and from where? It will make the tasks of the customers easy and will save their time, which will make your place as the first place visit at the time of need.

·         Keep good quality retail shopping baskets for the customers to carry in the store? So that they can keep their picked items in a basket and can roam in the whole store without facing the problem of space to keep the products.

·         Along with display strategy, one more thing which is necessary for your store’s looks is the retail fixtures used in your store. One has to understand the human psychology that any human is always attracted towards catchy and unique things. So make use of the fixtures which make you unique and attractive.

And when they leave the beautifully designed paper shopping bags will be the best way to say good day to them. The bag will act as a remembrance in the mind of the people for future. If the bag has your logo then it is best, as it is what other people will see in the hands of your customers and will think to visit your place too.

Story of an Assignment on Retail Management

I had marketing as my major field of study in my post-graduation time. Retail management was the part of the course and I got an assignment to show how we can create an environment for impulse buying. Well, the assignment has three parts, in the first one I have to do research on the store I am about to change, in terms of operations, finance, marketing etc. then in second part I have to visit the chosen store and keeping all the other factors constant have to change the display strategy of the store which can bring more impulse purchase for the store. I can make use of varied retail supplies offered by the store manager or can buy more as well. The assignment will go for one week. The third part of the assignment requires documentation of all the research I did in part I and part II of the assignment, along with documentation I have to attach comparison charts of last week and a week before that when I was not there.

The whole assignment was lengthy but gave me a deep insight of the retail industry and altogether different perspective about working and managing. The assignment was on an individual basis. Me being on the creative side instead of fashion, I choose the store which offers gifts and its accessories. Before starting my assignment I gave two of my day for the research of the store, its products and other retail supplies they use. On the basis of my research firstly I prepared financial charts, inventory charts, operations diagrams and retail strategy they are currently using which can help me to decide my plan of action and will also help me to compare my work with theirs for the third part of the assignment.


My plan action was simple and smooth I didn’t ask for any extra Retail Supply to carry out my plan which was definitely a plus. The first thing I did was decorating the store in a catchy way, it is a family as well as a youngster store, I hope you are getting what I am trying to say. Because of this, the store needed to be decorated in such a way that both the categories of people want to enter the store, then near the cash counters, I added few items like chewing gums, chocolates, key rings and other small things which are not costly plus catches everyone’s eyes. Then inside the store t every nook and corner I tried to put baskets with casual yet appealing items, such as small soft toys at one place, wall hangings at the other, etc. The interior was changed daily as per my request so when the first week was over and we tried to compare the results. The owner, as well as my professor, were astonished to see the remarkable change in the sales along with profits too.

However, the scenario which I explained in above few lines can be seen in the whole winter season in the city. It’s just festival season adds a different bounce in the steps of the people is it kids, young groups or old couples.
You can find everyone carrying gifts with beautiful Gift bows pasted on the top of the wrappings. Kids are squealing and giggling with the excitement of getting gifts their moms are searching for the right bird to cook on Thanksgiving get together whereas few mothers are trying to choose the right decorations. Without any doubt, you can think which store will have the maximum male presence. If you thought about the beer and wine section then buddy you are absolutely right. Buying a good sip to drink is a male’s birthright.
