Dressing and displaying adds an edge and make customer stick around (Part II)

This is the “to be continued” part of the last blog where we were discussing the ideas or suggestions in terms of your retail shop supplies which can help your customer to stick around your store and buy stuff. You might have the general idea as to what I am trying to suggest to make your store work in the best way possible.
2) Keep the flashy goods everywhere just not at the checkout counter
Do you remember those flashy goods which are bought on an impulse by the customers? I know you do. Keep those products spread at all the visible places in the store and maybe in wooden display cases too with something attractive like bows and ribbon. You have to make efforts for catching the eye of the customer. Keep the flashy items with the product that complements it the most. A customer will automatically check the product and can go for that unplanned purchase then and there only. You can use designed baskets and countertop displays for displaying these products.
3. Add convenience for the shoppers by giving them easy-to-carry shopping baskets
Shoppers can’t hold 4-5 items together in their hand. If you want them to buy a lot of products then you have to give them an incentive of a shopping basket which can hold multiple products easily without causing inconvenience to the customers. These baskets should be kept strategically at the entrance, somewhere in middle and at the end of the store. Through these staging areas, shoppers can get the baskets without thinking too much.
4) Try to use labels and signs for shoppers instead of sales people
As soon as the customer enters the store, don’t ambush them with a flock of sales people. Rather, train your staff to make an initial greeting and answer questions only when asked. You can put various types of labels or display signs up for your customers to help them search for the product they intend to buy. So many sales guys around a customer makes them feel forced and under attack. Give them a comfortable and supportive feeling so that they can look at all the retail shop supplies easily.
5)  Have something for all the senses of the customer

Just imagine the scene as you enter retail chains in malls; the first thing you will notice is the beautiful fragrance surrounding you. It will make you relax plus give a pleasant atmosphere as you walk in. Then the next thing you notice is a promotional stall for any food product, where you can taste the product free of cost, only then does your shopping start. While shopping you can hear a beautiful music going through the speaker which is soothing your ears. And when you pay your bill your purchase is kept in a custom shopping bag, which completes the perfect shopping experience and you gain a loyal customer.
